Modes
- Shape — click a cell to add or remove it from the puzzle's outline.
- Shade — click or drag to paint cells with the selected ink; set a shading symmetry so painted cells mirror automatically.
- Write — click a cell, then type its letters.
- Find — drag through a chain of neighbouring cells (straight or curved) to search the dictionary for matching words and phrases.
- Number — auto-number entries (down- or right-dominant), or click cells to number them yourself in Custom mode. Adjust the number size here too.
- Background — choose the backdrop behind the grid.
Pick a mode at the top of the side column. Press the ? beside it to show a short description of the current mode.
Moving around
- Click and drag any empty background area to pan the grid.
- Use the zoom buttons in the toolbar to change cell size.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Tab / Shift+Tab — cycle forward/backward through modes.
- Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y — undo / redo.
- In Write mode: Enter / Shift+Enter moves to the next/previous cell, arrow keys step to a neighbour, Esc deselects.
- While setting a shading symmetry centre: Esc cancels picking.
Tips
- The side column only shows the settings for whichever mode you're using. Clear text and Hide letters are in Write; Clear shading is in Shade.
- Reset board clears everything and starts a fresh grid at the size in the toolbar.
- Save your grid to a JSON file so you can pick up editing later or move it between devices.
